I am an Assistant Professor of the Graduate Program in Applied Computing at Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), Brazil. Before joining Unisinos, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the AI-Lab of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. I received my PhD (2018, with highest honours) and MSc (2013) degrees in Computer Science from the Institute of Informatics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where I was also a temporary lecturer (2016).
My research focuses on machine learning, reinforcement learning, multiagent systems, game theory, and search, with applications in smart cities, including traffic optimisation, smart electricity grids, industry 4.0, and healthcare. I am an active member of the AI community, having published and reviewed papers on some of the most important core AI conferences and journals.
